Weber grills on GLP

Hey guys -

I've been a long time Weber fan and would love to gift someone from my family in Brazil a grill. There, they run on LGP (https://petrobras.com.br/en/quem-somos/gas-liquefeito-de-petroleo), which is typically a 60% propane/40% butane mix, and pure propane is not easily found.

I know NG and LP conversions are widely discussed but I haven't found anything on LGP.

ChatGPT states that output pressure on both average tanks is similar. Could I get away just replacing the hosing/valve?

Thanks
Leo

I think you mean LPG. GLP is a type of drug for treating diabetes. To that end I've never seen LGP available here. Don't even know where it would be used or anything about it's "properties" though I would have to guess it's BTU content would be the same or very close to NG

Hi Leo, would you send a grill from the US to Brazil? I would check the shipping cost vs buying a grill locally

Oh gosh! I forgot all about that article. I wrote that back in 2016 I think.

I cannot advise bringing a model sold in the US to Brazil. Doing so will essentially void the warranty, and depending on the model, replacing the hose/regulator might not be sufficient to make the grill safely operable, as there are potentially different orifice sizes to consider on the manifold and possibly different air shutter settings on the burner tubes.

We do have a small presence in Brazil, and I would recommend only purchasing a Weber gas grill within Brazil if that is where you intend to use it.
