Weber Genesis 2000

I found a Weber Genesis 2000 model number 220000 on Craigslist for $30. It's my first refurb and the only thing I was surprised by is that the table slats are plastic. I thought all of those were wood so the plastic was a bit of a suprise. I'd rather not replace them with wood but I'm not sure if I like the grey color seeing how well the stained wood tables look. Has anyone had luck painting them? Maybe a wood brown color? If not I'll just settle with the grey

Good find. They do clean up nicely and yes you can paint them

$30 is a great deal for that. A can of krylon BBQ paint and some simple green to scrub it down and you should be back in business!

Please post pics of your restore. I'm on the hunt for a Genesis on the cheap to make a cart. I want to store my Q220 under and my Jumbo Joe on top. It will have a lot of prep area. Hopefully I can find one with a side burner in case I need to cook something in a pan/pot.
