That would be the best to use. Though keep in mind the thin steel will likely warp and eventually burn though but it will hold up far better than aluminum flashing which was never meant for that
After replacing the flavorizer bars on a Genesis, I have a couple old ones in pretty good shape. A cut down flavorizer will be going into mine. Thanks for this idea!
