I bought the Vortex a few months back and have used it a few times on my OTG. I like to do a progressive burn around the perimeter of the kettle when I'm doing butts or other low and slow smokes. I've not used the vortex to load the fire grate because I haven't figured a way to have a starting point that is blocked from the ending point of the ring of coals.
Has anyone done this? Any techniques you can share? I've thought about getting a fire brick and cutting it to the shape of the vortex and using it as a fire stop. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas.
