Virtual WSM Cookers

Exactly Shawn, your "Wings on the 22" were the inspiration for my current design idea. Thanks for posting the link to that thread.
I actually intended for my brackets to be two seperate pieces just as you have stated. Though probably not necessary for added stability, in my images I show an added crossbar at each end connecting the two supports(intended to be a seperate piece!) However my rendering software removes certain visible lines, so in the rendered images it looks like it is all one piece.

It would sure be nice if those brackets were still available some where, one could use the slatted tables like your original has, or make replacement tables to suit.

I was thinking some conduit and a pipebender might work.

It would probably take a little trial and error to achieve the proper radius, and bends, but that might just be a do-able option!

I must have missed something in the translation. I see the "Wheel" mod, but nothing on the tables.

Never mind.

Corey,
I like your idea. I was thinking along the same lines. My idea is to connect the straps using one half of a SS hinges with the correct size SS nuts and bolts. Connect the hinges to frames that can be folded down along the sides of the cooker to allow use of a cover. They would also need support under the frame and tables when they're in the "up" position. Either a removable rod/bar like the Weber model or hinged, like a folding shelf bracket. I would also space the straps away from the cooker slightly (1/4") using Silicon pads. This would let me use other accessories like my "Slide-a-Side" lid holder and tool hooks. Maybe attach some handles on them too.
What so you think?

I like where your'e going with this Mac. I can't wait for more.

By the way, you must have checked my post before I corrected it. I thought it was "Hot Rod" when it was "Wings on the 22".

Perhaps a piano hinge, along with some spring loaded drop leaf table hinges, may work. Time permitting I will draw something up to see how it may actually work out !

Thats an interesting rig right there Mac, they have an awful lot going on on that unit. Looks like a "Transformer" The side tables bare quite a resemblance to the Weber tables...
Work has once again interupted my accessorie design endeavours, so for the time being, I will just have to be thinking about my best ideas to make it work on our WSM's
I will post something more on it when I get some more free time to mess around with the idea...

Corey,
Here is the link that George posted last year. I don't think there's any part left untouched. He makes his own Stacker using a bicycle rim and steel. This guy even modified his own BBQ tools! Check it out. (Be sure to back up to the start of the thread)
