"POR-15 High Temp paint is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures up to 1200°F / 648.8°C and will resist cracking, chipping, and peeling"If that paint fails prematurely, there is another option.
POR15 makes a paint that I used on cast iron exhaust manifolds for my car. They look as good as the day I painted them 5 or 6 years ago. It was called "Factory Manifold Grey". I think they may have other colors too.

Rust-Oleum ULTRA HIGH HEAT = "It withstands temperatures of up to 1200 degrees (648C).
Do not use in areas directly exposed to flames (e.g., inside of grills or fireplaces)".
Both are rated at for same temp. I emailed POR asking about direct flame. Also POR doesn't look like it comes in gloss black.
I am sure there must be places to have it re-porcelain coated or even fabricated in stainless but def not cost effective for an almost 20yo grill......
***EDIT***
reply from POR-15
"Our High Temp coating will burn if put into direct flame."
