Ha Ha, luckily, no. I think they were made after the stinky plastic problem. I do have some stinky screwdrivers but they were bought in the early to mid 80's. They smelled when they were brand new so nothing to do with decomposing like the article said. The worst ones I had were Xcelite. I had a set of Xcelite nut drivers that I bought in the late 70's or early 80's and boy did they smell (also when brand new). I had a WWII (side opening) 50 cal ammo can that I used as a traveling tool box and wow - open that up after a day or two.Do the handles stink on the Craftsman set? I have a full set of their screwdrivers, and the handles smell like vomit.
The funny thing is, People must have complained back then. I bought a few more Xcelite nut drivers in the 90's and they are purposely scented. They actually smell like scented candles. I assumed that the scent would totally disappear fairly quickly but nope. While not as strong as when new, the screw driver drawer in my toolbox still has a trace of "scented candles" when I open it.
