Vent Handle Insulators

Jack... is that how you got your handles on the vent tabs, or are you just offering a suggestion?

The material that the handles are made of seem brittle enough that I've been afraid of applying too much pressure thinking that I might break them.

Oh so that's what those nubs are for. On my OTG I thought they were there for an added grip.
You could just file em down, but after reading this thread I can see that they do have a reason as is locking your handle grip into place.
Me..I would use a mallet or non marring hammer with a couple of well placed soft taps to seat your grip into place.
Keep your fingers on the outside of the grip handle, and center your strikes over the metal part of the vent.

Or you could call Weber CS, and see what they suggest.
