V-burner

I just got the circular V-burner for my WSM. I was wondering do I use water in the pan or skip that part.

I decied to try out the Burner since I live in Iceland and the weather can be pretty tricky. But I love using coals so I guess I will use that over the summer time.

From what I recall no.. But you should experiment and find what works best for you.
Keep us updated.:wsm:

I hooked up the V-burner to the WSM, took me about 3 minutes really easy.

I´ve been playing around the valve seeing at what position it holds the temp. I also put a can with hickory on the burner and got this really beautiful smoke coming out. Can´t wait to get some poultry or other meat to try it on.

I quickly googled this and couldn't find anything. What is the v burner?
Sounds like it turns the WSM into a gas fired smoker?

Looks like a nice contraption, Hilmir.

Regarding conditions, i'd just like to comment that other users also can have snow and low temperatures. There are members from Alaska, Canada and Finland here as well, and do not forget the northern states in the US.
I've used my WSM at temperatures lower than - 30 C, that's about -22 f without any problems at all, it just uses a bit more fuel. The propane is useless at such temps.
When it comes to charcoal, you just have to stock up during summertime, or find a brand/type that works well. Kingsford is not available here where I live, but there are other alternatives that works like a charm.
If it is very cold, I've found out that it is wise to keep the coals indoors for a few hours before you use them. They burn better, and they are much easier to ignite.

I wonder, what did you have to pay for the transport? It would be a nice addition to my grilling equipment.

Very interesting! I looked at gas fired smokers when I was first shopping , but I settled on charcoal. I can see this being a good alternative fuel source. Thanks for the reply. I hope you will post some pictures showing how it is installed and how it works out for you.
Good luck , brother. :wsm:
