using Maverick ET732 pre wsm 22.5 mods

my ultimate plan is to cut the slit using an angle grinder on the body of the wsm 22.5 to house the maverick's probe wires, however my brother is the one with the angle grinder and he wont be able to get it to me until after next week. my dilemma is that im doing a pork butt this wknd and i want to use the new shiny maverick toy.

what would be the best way to go about using it? putting the lid on top of the probe wires? going down the top vent? other options? i sure as heck dont want the maverick on the sideline for the first cook worthy of its use. any thoughts would be appreciated!
 
For years I ran the probe wires through one of the top vent holes and hung the Maverick unit off the handle. I don't think you want to pinch the wires under the lid.
 
I've been running my meat probe under the lid and the temp probe just dangles throught the top vent so far no issues.
