Used Genesis?

A neighbor of mine has offered to sell me a 3-burner Genesis, no side burner for $130. Looks real clean. I'd attach a pic but don't know how. I've never owned a Weber of any kind. Anything I should know about this model? I have a 20 y/o Charbroil PrecisionFlame I'm getting tired of rebuilding.

Many thanks for yr help, PW

Haven't been able to get a model # yet. Here's a pic he sent me.

It looks like a Genesis 1000 from the late 90's. I bet he would give it up for $75-100.
If it has good burners and grates it will outlast most new box store grills.

Thanks for the tip. Both propane tanks come with it so $130 seems fair. I will get to see it tomorrow. When you say "burners" do you mean the actual burner tubes? Never had any problems with those on my Charbroil Precision Flame 9000, as they are stainless. In fact, every time I had to rebuild the Charbroil, it was because the mild steel flavor bar over the burner tube had rusted away. Even if I had to rebuild this, I've seen that you can get stainless grilles and flavor bars for these. They should last a good long time, right?

With both tanks included $130 seems fair to me also. Yes, when I referred to "burners" I was talking about the burner tubes. You can buy stainless grates and flavorizer bars for this grill if needed. If you rebuild this grill now or later, you should get many good years and meals out of it. It will be well worth the investment.

It really looks like it wasn't used that much, but the tell tale signs would be under the lid. I would pay $130 for it and would expect to get several years of use out of the grill.l

Let us know what you decide.

If the inside looks as good as the outside, $130 looks good - especially with the two tanks. If the inside needs some work, I'd try to get him down to $100. If you put SS grates and flavorizer bars on it plus maybe an igniter, you're talking another $100. All together, I'd like to stay under $200 for something like that. Either way, I don't think you'll regret the purchase.

OK. I used the URL from my photobucket account to post a pic and it doesn't show up. What am I doing wrong?
