UDS style air vent pipe


 
I never had problems with the ones on there.
I did add a handle to one of the top vent tabs. It stays cool to the touch.
Curious to see what you come up with.
 
No, I've never seen anyone attempt that kind of mod on the WSM. You can install long threaded bolts on the vent dampers to make things a bit easier, maybe manipulated them with a length of broomstick or similar.

I used to use my foot. Just nudge it on the right on the 18 to close and to the left on the 22.
I don't know why Weber switched them but?
I had an old fireplace poker I used in the summer when barefoot or wearing flip flops.
One of those reacher pickups would work also

I use the "non-food" BBQ tongs (similar to the image below) that are relegated to handling charcoal. Specifically I use the handle end to hook the tab on the damper and adjust it as needed.
