I'm going to pick up a few Tri-tips while in PA this weekend at Trader Joes. I'd like some info on freezing them? I don't own a Foodsaver. How long will they be ok frozen? Is a Zip-lok bag ok?

Mike--

Wrap in plastic wrap first; wrap well(be generous with the wrap) and tightly. Put in a Ziplock then squeeze the air out of it as best you can; freeze. They should be okay for 2-3 months, quite possibly longer.

The Trader Joe's tri-tips are really nicely wrapped, so just don't remove them from their not-quite-cryovac-maybe-but-darn-close homes, and stow 'em in the freezer as is. Maybe they ARE in cyrovac---definitely packed to last. You'll see.

Don't forget to get some Usinger's brats while you're there! And check out the frozen desserts...

Susan's right if they are in a cryovac i would just put them in the freezer like that. When i go to Wal Mart and pick up 4 - 6 packers i just put them in the freezer as is and have kept them for over a year with no ill effects.
