Totally bummer of a day

So, because we bought wife a new Samsung Z Flip phone this past summer and also activated a new line for my dad with T-Mobile through Costco. Then we got 2 $75 Costco gift shopping cards. So I went shopping with one today and through a stupid error on my part I lost it. Too long to write about, just suffice to say I been kicking myself all afternoon. Of course I stopped at the service desk to see if perhaps some good samaritan turned it in but my faith in humanity rung true (basically I look both ways and up when crossing a one way street.). Of course someone else got a windfall :(

A few years ago wife's work had a box of $100K worth of gift cards delivered by FEDEX by accident...It was mixed in with dozens of deliveries...and would have never been known...as the tracking # showed it 'Still on the truck'
They called the recipient (listed on the box) and they came and picked them up...
Some people are raised right ;)

Bummer. Consider it a donation to someone who needed it more than you. Otherwise, they would've turned it in. I'm not a CPA, so I can't say whether or not you can write it off on your taxes. 😊

that's how i've come to see it in life. someone needed it more. i don't know your financial situation and don't need to know it either. but things happen in life for a reason. carry on and go do something for someone/a family in need. you'll feel better about yourself and realize that $75 or $150 isn't that much in the scheme of things in life.

mind you, it took me many years to adopt this perspective. i've just come to give more to others over the years. i'm not rich but i can pay all my bills and do some fun stuff. others are not that lucky or blessed in life. move forward and don't dwell on a small loss.

Yeah it's what I told my wife. But, still a bummer. Since we don't have a church to belong to anymore. Long story, there was one here we were very involved in what with different ministries we both worked in and so on. Someone very creepy came in and helped orchestrate the firing of the head pastor (a REALLY good person, who truly understood pastoral care). It got so bad they had to change the name and a number of other things. Anyway since we have not found another, we pick out charities usually 3 or 4 and give them sizeable donations. Basically it's how we "tithe" until we find a church we feel we can actually belong to.
