Wow! Kroger has top sirloin for $1.99/lb right now. I picked up a whole sirloin and had them slice it into 1.25" thick steaks. They left a big end piece that is too big to make into a steak that I'm thinking of smoking. Is top sirloin good for smoking? I got a $71 roast for $25. Not bad!
 
I smoke whole sirloins normally 10 to 12 pounds in size. I mop them with a product called Burbon Q out of Kentucy. I cook them to about 135 internal and let them rest. Slice across the grain and serve with a horseradish sauce, great eating.

Sounds good! 135? Does it turn out kinda like prime rib that way? Sounds like it would be kinda reddish still at 135? I might have to go buy another one since they're so cheap right now.

Yes it should be reddish (rare). Sirloin is pretty lean, if you cook it anymore than med-rare it will dry out. Rare is ideal for sirloin, IMO.
