If I cook a pork butt and a brisket at the same time which one goes on the top rack and which one goes on the bottom rack??

Put the butt on top and the brisket fat-side down on the bottom. The butt will baste the brisket for you, that way.

I've always been taught that the proper stacking order is beef, then pork, then chicken.

I don't know that there is anything WRONG with having pork drip on beef.

The only thing that I *AM* sure of is that you NEVER want chicken dripping on another meat.

you are correct....chicken should not drip on meat.....

and yes much debate on how to cook da brisket...fat side up or down

what to put on top and then on bottom rack....well it just makes more sense to put butt on top.. .much more dripping from that...second....the butt doesnt really need any more fat on it...the brisket can always use (only can imagine)

This just happens to be my favorite cook. I put the brisket fat side down on the bottom rack and let the butt baste it.

This has always worked well for me. The only 2 times I had a dry brisket I did a brisket only. Now days if I am doing brisket I am having pork butt also. wouldn't have it any other way.
