...........to be a fly on the wall.............. (smart tvs listening article)

Sheeesh gotta read the privacy statement on everything these days....But it would be cool to simply say "turn to channel #" or "turn to station [...]"

I have more imagination than knowledge, but I try to read up on this stuff--- safety / exploits / storage /

Gone are the days when spies have to sneak in and plant a bug.

its possible right now. In fact Microsoft had a problem when they released the Xbone and had a commercial demonstrating it. the problem is that there were a lot of Xbones that heard the voice commands and did what the one in the commerical was supposed to.

And to creep you out even more, Amazon sells a device that is a perpetual microphone ( kind of like a smart phone less siri) that routinely sends the content of your conversation to their servers. And they want people to actually pay for this device. Its called the amazon echo and I can't imagine why anyone would want one, much less pay for one.

And voice control loses its shine pretty quick. It might be imprinting, but the remote control is king. use it enough and you can get where you need to go without taking your eyes off the screen.

the xbox one with kinect lets you control it by gestures, but I'm not a big fan of it on the 360

I have binge-watched some shows on Netflix on a new smart tv. The tv will occasionally ask me if I am still watching if I have watched a few shows in a row. Should be called smart-*** tvs.
