Tips for managing a 22.5 WSM?

Coming from an 18.5 WSM, and looking for some quick advice on giving the HeaterMeter a fighting chance against the high-temp power of the 22.5 model.

My understanding is that it wants to rage at 275F+, so I'm already planning on installing a gasket to seal between the charcoal bowl and cooking section better, and eventually another gasket up top once I get my hinge kit.

Any pointers?

my buddy has one right out of the box, no fancy hacks or mods and we hooked up a heatermeter, a servo damper with a dog bowl on his bottom vent, closed the other 2, and left the top open a tiny bit, he can sit at 225 all day.

Well sweet, that sounds promising. I'm gonna do the first handful of cooks with primarily chicken just to get a nice coating/seasoning on the metal (to help stop heat reflections), but after about 3 cooks, I'm going into low-n-slow.

I think I may also buy an 18.5 charcoal ring to help save coal on shorter cooks.
