Timber Handle Stain

Just wondering if anyone knows what stain was used on the original timber handles?

Joel...there have been a lot of variances in color to the stains on the wood handles. Many of the older grill (60-70's) used a very dark brown. They seemed to have gotten lighter as time goes on. I would just say pick a color that looks close and that you like.

When I refinish the wood handles I like the way they look if I just brush them with some Watco Teak Oil finish without any stain.

I've tried a couple of stains and they look crap
Its mainly on handles that have been weathered and have lost all the original stain. I don't think the teak oil by itself will will do the job
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck either matching or finding a stain that brings those old handles back to life
