First time using this baby. You think I can get a complete butt cook on one bowl of fuel(Stubbs briqs)? This is probably goin to be a 10 hour plus cook I'm thinking. Not doing a whole lot of meat, whatever I can fit on this grate. I'm planning on getting a foil or metal pan filled with sand to put underneath cooking grate to deflect heat around (similar to water pan in WSM).

Thanks for any advice.

It all depends on how hot you cook.

If you use sand, note that it will absorb heat then release it. If it gets quite hot it will stay quite hot for some time. Not necessarily an issue but I'm not sure how you're looking to cook.

Planning on low slow 225-250ish

Then start with a small amout of lit over the unlit and restricted vents from the get-go. Moderate from there. This should disallow overheating the sand.
