Thermometer Hack

I wanted to share this hack with everyone. If your Kettle doesn’t come with a built in thermometer and you don’t want to drill a hole. Take a 5 inch or so deep fryer thermometer and mount it in the top vent with the supplied clip. Works great.

That's a good tip, Evan. Some remove the clip and just let the dial rest against the lid. Some have been known to jam similar thermometers through a wine cork, whittle some material off the end to make it narrower, and jam it into one of the holes. But your way doesn't restrict airflow as much.

Yessir! That's what I used on my 08 WSM and 06 OTG.
If you just have a stem therm without the clip a wooden clothespin works just slip the stem thru the metal spring.
