Thermometer for Genesis Gold

The thermo in the lid of my Genesis Gold 3 burner gas broke. It is a factory original long stem thermo that goes to appx 600 degrees. Before I order a new one, thought I would ask if there is something better than a replacement weber original?
 
Personally, I am a fan of the Maverick 732 thermometer. I clip one lead on the grill (to give me the true temperature where the food is cooking and then if I'm doing something large (butt, etc.) I'll put the other probe right in the meat.

To me, it is far more useful than a lid temperature.
