Therm readings question

I have a WSM 2009 18.5 on its first smoke with a small 4.5# brisket. Before the foil, my Maverick grill top reading was tracking the 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the lid therm. (about right from what i've read) After the foil, it seems to be reversed the Grill temp reads at around 355 and the lid is at 330 -340. My first thought is I may have been light on the coals due to a little breeze and 60 degree outside air.

Thoughts?

No matter what the temps say in different places, ONLY MEASURE THEM IN ONE SPOT! OR you will drive yourself nuts!

i just measure grate temp about 3" from the meat and thats it. lid temp is of no interest to me cuz the meat isn't cooking there.

I agree! I have drove myself nuts w/ the temp game when I started out. I look back and laugh but...yeah...one can go CRAZY micro-managing your temp. As stated...just measure at grate level and all is good.
