Thermometer Mounting Washers for 18 1/2 inch WSM

These washer are, I'm told, are for some kind of brake spring. They're dished washers that a member sent to me some years back to mount my Tel Tru Thermometer and they've worked perfectly. Their contour matches that of the lid on my 18 1/2 incher. Their part number:

Is any high-heat sealant needed when doing a side mount? I have a 4" probe Tel-Tru on order with mounting hardware.

Nope. Using the nut and washer combination, I've never seen any smoke leaking thru the mounting hardware. But I recommend using those washers I mentioned.
