temp descrepancy

Just got a Maverick Remote thermometer, and i'm getting at least a 20* descrepancy between the probe reading(which is on the grate next to the probe) and my BGE thermometer,which is stuck into the lid vent. Who to believe??

Test the temp of boiling water...! That'll tell ya who's 20 degrees off.

You will get a different temp reading from the top grate to the lid usally only 10-15 degress.Like susan said do the boiling water test.

Funny you shoul mention the boiling water. The weatherman lied to me about today. I decided not to cook and instead I boiled a pot of water and tested all my different temperature reading instruments. To my general satisfaction they all read between 210 and 213 in the same pot.
