So I'm going to call weber tomorrow and see what they have to say about the front panel on my summit

It's not nearly as bad as I've seen actually it's just barely starting. Being said if they're not willing to replace the box what would be the best way to solve this myself? Wire wheel rust treatment and BBQ paint or should I look into something else?
 
Been there done that. No help. You could wait for someone to sell one or take it out and see if a fabricator can make one out of stainless. Expensive but hell it's the only weak spot on the grill. Arguably the best grill Weber ever made.
 
Are you the original owner? (If not, no warranty for you) What year is your Summit? Did you register it previously or do you know the serial number (can you read it on the sticker or do you have the owner's manual with it attached)?

If you end up having to, I patched mine with a sheet of 304 stainless steel that I got from a junk dishwasher front panel (I selected it because it already had a nice 90 degree flange to lap over the top where the grates sit).
