Hi,

Why are there flavor bars over the IR burner? I would think it puts out radiant heat like a broiler

Yes take the flavorizer bars off

I thought the IR burners on Summit grills was in the back of the cook box, above the flavorizer bars and cooking grates???

My guess is an aftermarket burner that goes on the left side of the main grill

Yes that was retrofitted. You can buy those burners and gerry rig them it. But the last thing you should do is put a reflective metal surface above them

Yeah, but his is a stand alone sear station! This one is in the cookbox. I would like to more fully see how this one is installed.

You can do it like any other burner. If it fits, simply see what it's rated for i.e. 10k, 15k, etc. Re-jet your valve orifice with that proper size based on your fuel of choice and pressure, place the burner in, and simply figure out ignition source. Boom you have IR

Yea, that much I am good on. I just like to see how people do those kinds of modifications. It helps soothe my inquisitive mind, lol
