Summit Gold D6 Firebox swap complete

Thanks, all, for the help and tips. This forum has such great resources and users.

To recap, I was set to replace my burners and bars, etc., to extend the life of my D6 when I found the dreaded Summit firebox rot issue. I emailed Weber, and, after a month or so a new firebox arrived.

That was last year - my wife and daughter were out of town this week so I decided to give the swap a go. The goal wasn’t a complete restoration of the grill. Really, it’s to give me another 5-10 years of use.

I bought new burners, flavorizer bars, and an ignition system. In total, I spent about $275 on parts. Cheap? No. Cheaper than a new grill? Absolutely. I’ve got used to the 6 burners and huge cooking surface (and I use the rotisserie), so replacing this with a something close to it would have cost me a ton of dough.

Thanks again!
-Kris
