We need to replace the 16 ounce propane fuel canister on our Performance charcoal grill which is used as a starter. The canister is stuck and will not screw off. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a tool to use to get the old canister off? Thanks in advance for any help.

First of all, welcome to the site. Just a dumb question are you turning it the correct direction? Just looked at an online manual it should be righty tighty and lefty loosey.

I went out and checked my Performer and you should be trying to unscrew in the normal direction. Grasping the cylinder, looking at it, you should be turning to the left, or counter clockwise direction. If it still won't budge you might try a strap wrench around the cylinder or possibly the tool you use to remove oil filters from your car. I would put a back up adjustable wrench on the brass nut that the cylinder screws in to as a precaution. Good luck. Oh yeah, welcome to the site!

If the usual solutions like hot water don't work, you might want to pick up a can of PB Blaster at the auto parts store. It works amazingly well loosening corroded parts.
