Well, I sold two of my old 18" for a combined $285. I paid less than that for my new 22". But I know most pay far more.
As for not having a deflector, I've used it for a couple years and never noticed ash being blown around too much. I see what you're saying about the guru adapter, but I don't know if it is necessary right now.
I'll be doing some testing when things eventually warm up before I do anything I can't easily reverse.
