smokinchips.com raised their price to $170, TrueValue removed the promo from their site, and TNC is out of stock. I have $300 to spend for 2 WSM's, but that has to include shipping.

I wonder what the market is like for used WSM's. I'll bet there are folks out there who have them in their garages and don't know how to use them.

No doubt, there probably are hundreds of people that received WSM's for Christmas or Birthdays etc., that never used them and just put the box in the garage. I'll bet there have been some lucky people at yard and garage sales!! I keep an eye out for them in our local papers, but all I ever come across are the El Cheapo Brinkmann's or other cheaper Weber models.

I'll bet the employees at the Weber factory get some killer discounts on WSM's.

I don't know about factory workers, but I know good deals can be found at the yearly public factory sale. I live about 45 minutes from the Huntley, IL plant. Last year I picked up a Genesis 1500 for about $100 below the original selling price (they sell the previous years merchandise). I stupidly scheduled a vacation the same weekend as the sale this year (it is once a year in August), so I don't know if they sell WSM's there. I will definitely check next year.

There is an Ace Hardware 15 miles from you in Lynn. The # there is 828-859-9223. I would give them a call to see if they have any. I took smokinchips print out from their site in to an Ace local to me, and they honored the lower price.

Good luck.

Yeah, but smokinchip's price is now $169. I'm not going to pay that much. I'm just going to hold out and keep looking until I get buy 2 WSM's delivered for $300 or less.

Rocky, go to www.dynadirect.com They are showing WSM's for $149.00... Not sure what the shipping cost are, but you may never get a couple WSM's for less than $300, including shipping... As long as I have been on this site I can only remember one time (around Christmas last year) where you could get them for $149 each with free shipping... Not sure if they will do it again this year or not... It was smokinchips.com that had that special last year... If you check out dynadirect.com , let us know what you find for shipping costs.

Why don't you call the Ace Hardware and see if they'll match the DynaDirect price of $149.00? Since you're buying two it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

I already did. This Ace Hardware is Barely an Ace Hardware anymore. The lady is about 100 years old that runs the place. She couldn't even find WSM's in her catalog. I tried another Ace hardware in Brevard and they told me I would have to pay $179.

I know that everyone wants to spend as little money as possible. With that being said Weber is a great family owned company. They make a great product at a fair and reasonable price. IMO paying the normal retail price is a bargain for what you can do with them. I personally prefer to pay my money to these types of companies and stores to promote them. I would rather see it go to them than spread out to stockholders.

If money wasn't a factor in this, I would gladly just buy 2 WSM's at $179 a piece. Until I find a good bargain, I will just keep using my Cookshack smoker. I'll bet the WSM's only cost about $75-$85 (if that) to produce. So, anything over $100-$125 seems a bit high. But I do understand that the 3rd party sellers have to make something too. What can I say? I am a cheapskate that is always looking to save money that is very hard earned. lol

I just talked to a gal at dynadirect.com on the phone. She said that their warehouse is out of stock and they won't have any more until spring.

Rocky,
Truevalue.com has the WSM. If you enter the promotion code true15, they will cost $161.10 each. This price includes shipping. IMHO I don't think that you will find anything much lower than that. Good Luck,
Don

Thanks Don!
I'll give it a try. I wonder if the shipping charge changes if you order more than 1 WSM?
I'll let you know how it goes.

I just placed my order for 2 WSM's at TrueValue using the "true15" promotion code.
Wasn't as good as the $149 deal, but definitely the best I can find.

The 2 WSM's totalled $358.00
Promotion Savings - $53.70

equals $304.30 and
Shipping + $25.95

equals $330.25

So, I ended up paying $165.13 per smoker including shipping.

That's about $15 more than the old promotion deal, but they might never run that again, or maybe not until next spring anyway.

I'm sure I would have spent close to $200 per smoker with shipping anywhere else I checked the past week.

Thanks again Don for the tip. I really appreciate your help and everyone else's help too.

I will check back in as soon as I get them. I think I already have all the accessories I need. Maybe I just need to get one of those brushes shown in that list for cleaning the interior of the walls of the smoker.

Rocky,
Glad to hear that you got your WSM's on the way. A friend of mine ordered his thru True Value and recieved them in a week. As for scrubbing down the interior of your WSM, I don't. I just clean the cooking grids and hose down the dome to remove any loose residue.(creosote from the smoke I guess) Good luck on your first cook, these things are almost like cooking in an oven because the temps stay so stable after about the first hour of cooking. I'm sure you will enjoy the results.
Don

Rocky,

Check your WSM's over really well when you receive them. The boxes they ship them in are quite flimsy, and it's not uncommon for them to arrive nicked or scratched, which can lead to rust problems later on. UPS completely trashed my charcoal bowl, but the nice folks at Weber are sending me a new one.

Have fun.

Mr S.

Thanks for the great info. I'll check them over really good when they arrive.
