SS Grate for WSM

I have an older 18" WSM. I was looking but could not find a replacement top grate made of stainless steel. I would also consider a grate made of porcelain coated steel. Has anyone come across any replacement grates other than the orignal (which is now part number 7432)?

Weber makes a SS 18" cooking grate with hinged sides. It fits the top grate of an 18.5" WSM like the original. When I find one,I'm gonna buy it.

I could not find the SS 18" on their web site. Do they not make it any more so you have to find one in stock at a store?

I know that I saw the SS 18-1/2" in SS on their web site a while back. It must be discontinued. I will call them just in case. If anyone knows the part number of the SS grate (it was a flip up grate), maybe I could find it on something like CL or EBAY.

I just got off the phone and while the person was very helpful, he could not locate an 18-1/2" in SS. Bummer.

Why would they discontinue the 18, yet still sell a 22 SS grill?
Makes no sense to me.

I wonder if you are referring to the chrome grill for the gold series grill. They open on the sides to allow for stoking coals or wood.

This isn't SS and it might not be the best thing in a WSM but you should know about this guy.

Weber used to make an 18" SS grate. Long discontinued.

SS 18.5 hinged grates are available from Weber but they are pricey. The part # is 80730. Price as of today is $54.20 plus $7 shipping. Remember Dad2012 code for free shipping when you call.

Thats just a crazy price. Did I miss something, what the benefit of an SS grate in a WSM?

I agree that the current price can't be justified. I check back with Weber CS periodically to see if they want to sell them at a more reasonable price. The first two I bought from Weber were about $18.00 when they were still shown on the website.
