Spirit E330 tank scale not accurate

Is there any way to fix a Spirit E330 tank scale that is not accurate? I get tanks filled at Costco so they should be full. I remember the tank scale having a red indicator that would pop up at the top of the scale. But sometime, it stopped doing that, plus it did seem inaccurate based on propane usage. Is the only option to replace it? I would probably have it replaced under warranty. I know it has a spring. But I'm guessing it's a bad idea to spray silicone lubricant near something you set on fire???

I did see a YouTube video where the guy grabbed the tank and violently shook it up and down to fix the scale. Seems like a bad idea to me. When I transport a tank, I try to baby it.

It would probably benefit from cleaning and lubricating that spring. I'm not totally familiar with that particular tank scale but I don't think there are any actual adjustments you can make to it like the ones on a Genesis 1000.

Do you know of any pics of the inside of that mechanism? The spring doesn't seem easily accessible. Can I get myself in trouble by just spraying some silicone lubricant in there, or will I burn my house down the next time I turn on the grill?

I don't know of any pictures of it. It should be removable? Take it off the grill and spray some carb or brake cleaner on the spring mechanism and let it dry. Then spray some kind of lube inside and put it back on the grill. I don't know for sure if that will help, but that's what I would do anyway.

Many of us don't bother with the scale and have a spare tank full at the ready.

If it's new, register your grill with Weber and contact their support.

I like the scale, but still a have a back up tank at the ready. We all know they are only somewhat accurate at best. For sure contact Weber if still under warranty.
