I stopped by my local Smart & Final store and was delighted with a few discoveries. You can buy the various spices you need for rubs in large(but not too large)containers at prices that are significantly less than the grocery store. Also, the store sells meat at pretty good prices--brisket in the heavy plastic bag for $1.29 per pound. I had previously paid $1.79 per pound at Food For Less and thought I had found a bargain. Finally, Smart & Final has heavy duty aluminum baking sheet pans with a lip all the way around. I bought two and plan on using them to carry my meat to and from the smoker.
