You make a new grate for your WSM,that's what! A coworker had a line on some 4' by 8' stainless sheets last year, and asked if I'd like some. Not being a metal worker, wood and food being more my tastes,I passed.
However,I recently bought a small wing and leg rack. While it worked fine on the gasser,I'm always looking to up my charcoal game. I was looking online at some Weber charcoal holders, when I remembered the SS sheets. I asked him if he had a small chunk I could get from him, maybe 12" square. He said he had a bigger chunk he'd gladly give me.
Holy wow! He gave me a piece that was about 18" by 30"! Solid stuff too, probably 12 guage, nice and stout!
Here it is on my workmate.

Looks pretty good for being on my deck for about three weeks!
This is it cut into an almost round. It wasn't quite as big as the lower grate.

And some holes for the end of the slots.

And here it is with the slots cut and ground down for a cleaning.

I added two SS bolt eyes for handles. I'm really proud of it! It;'s gonna get a good work out next weekend for SD!
