Smoking under our canopy

We have a deck with an outdoor canopy covering it. It's curretly several feet above my smoker. Since it is now raining , and has been, here in the NE. Any dangers of sneaking under the canopy?

Erik, you are perfectly fine smoking under the canopy. I've been known to bust out the quick- shelter to cover everything when smoking.

I would be more worried about marking up the deck with any drips or tipping the WSM over and burning it down than the canopy.

The shelter I built for my WSM has a plywood roof that is about 4 inches above the dome and the paint on it hasn't even cracked or discoloured.

I've been smoking on the deck since I got my WSM. I'm looking for a reason to rip it down. I was more worried about the heat from the top of my WSM. This is a permanent summer canvas deck covering. Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Check out my post from a few weekends back.

If this didn't go up in flames, your canopy that is several feet above your smoker shouldn't have any issues with fire, especially since it's probably soaking wet from the rain...it may smell like a BBQ joint for a while however. To me that's a bonus

I was thinking of trying out a canopy this weekend as well. Mine is more of a tarp with poles setup rather than a cloth canopy, so I decided against it. I'll keep my eye out for a good deal on a "not so plasticy" tarp.

I've got a plasticy canopy over my Longhorn and it's been no problemo, the heat from the fire box is a non-issue.
