I tried this a while back using a small cookie sheet and some hickory chunks. Smoked it until it had a light amber color.

I thought it would be nice to give as an "extra" with Christmas presents, as well as have around the kitchen. I put it in an air tight container, but when I opened it and smelled it, it smelled like old stinky gym socks. So I threw it out. Is it supposed to smell like that?

Anyone else ever try this? If so, what smoke wood did you use? What was the color and smell like when done?
