Smokey Joe Silver Lid Handle - Is this a defect?

Hello everyone,

I am a spanking new member. I purchased a Smokey Joe Silver in September and found missing porcelain enamel coating at the handle area. Weber's Customer Service in Canada will send me a replacement, but I am curious if other Smokey Joe owners have experienced the same issue.

Tony and everyone else, I adjusted the viewing setting already. You guys and gals should be able to see the photos.

I wouldn't think it would matter, being that it'll be covered with the nylon/plastic handle cover. It'll never see the light of day once you screw the cover on.

Never had the cover off mine, but I'm now interested in seeing if there's a noticeable difference.

Pete just checked mine nothing missing on the handle.

James, the exhaust damper has the following serial numbers and letters:

CN1869156
AT

I was curious and went to another store to find if a similar problem is occurring. I asked the manager to open a SJS box and to our surprise the same issue with the coating right at the handle area.
