Any in this area know where to get a variety of smokewood? Besides hickory and Mesquite all I can get around here is apple. I know many use an online source, that would be fine too. Thanks,

Ron

Ps. I know some members use those wood pellets. How do they compare to chunks? Do they do as good a job and are they cost effective?

I have used a variety of on-line sources for wood. For apple wood if you have any apple orchards in your area, check with them in the fall, they usually seel wood from trimmings or cutting trees.

Here's a couple of sites:

I have gotten sugar maple, pecan, oak, and cherry. Pellets will do in a pinch, IMHO, others will tell you they love them. It's a personal thing.

Here's a link to one in Rockford (Mi). I've bought a lot of their chips: peach, pecan, and cherry, but I don't know if they have chunks. www.theoutdoorcook.com Everyone here on this side of the state looks down on me because I haven't gone to Zingerman's
