Smoke wood for pastrami

I posted before about making pastami. I have a brisket flat curing in the fridge since Tuesday night. Looking for a late Satureday or early Sunday cook. Now can't find pecan wood. I assumed the store that had it last time I was there would still have it, but no. Would apple be a good substitue? I will try a store about 45 minutes away for pecan tomorro.
Man I wanted to do everything right!
 
Use a 50/50 mix of Apple and Hickory, It'll turn out just fine.
