Smoke Wood and Spices

Does anyone find that certain woods work together better with certain spices? For example, apple wood smoke and coriander vs. hickory wood smoker and coriander. I haven't experimented enough myself to discern a difference but I was curious to have others weigh in on the subject. This thought popped in my head at work today. Staff meetings can be a bit boring.

I don't really find that certain woods work better with certain spices. I treat wood like a spice, however, and the type and amount I use is meant to work with the meat and the rub and the sauce. It's a component of the entire profile, imo. Thus, I seem to use less then most do.
