Anyone else bought a big cast iron skillet to use as a griddle for smash burgers, breakfast, etc? If so how big a one did you get?

I tried my 12" lodge and found it sort of tough to use and took a long time to get hot. I then tried a 12" carbon steel pan, then a CI griddle that covers 2 burners on the stove, then bought a dedicated CI that replaced 1 grate on my Q320. That last one worked the best. I sold the Q but kept the griddle and still use it on my other grills on top of the grates.

i use this for smashies: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008GKDQ/?tag=tvwb-20

it works well but you need to get the grease off/out if you're cooking more than 8 burgers at a time. otherwise you risk a small grease fire and getting burned. alternatively, 80/20 burger mix works well, and better than 70/30. but since you're going thin on your burgers, a leaner burger will work well. and like Joe said, you need a lot of heat to get'er hot to generate that sear. like vortex hot.
