Thanks Bruce. This will be 1st attempt at ever doing this mod. I started one on my Silver A previously but luckily, I found a frame piece for that one and did not need to attempt it.Good luck.

Never used that type of bit before. If you can find a long shaft pilot bit and a right angle drill with a really small chuck you should be OK something like this. These things are life savers https://www.amazon.com/HHIP-5000-0034-Center-Countersink-Diameter/dp/B00DVTX81U?tag=tvwb-20
that’s sounds pretty not fun!!I was actually able to hand drill a perfectly placed hole(s) in those shafts by starting with this and switching over. If you want to know what a feat that was. Take a polished steel shaft (like a steel axle), and try to drill a 1/8" hole in free hand.
These bits truly give you super powers with a drill![]()
It actually was ezpz with that drill bit. I'll tell ya, they are so handy. Drilling out a cook box bolt? Boom, start with the the centering drill, need something precise? Boom, start with centering drill. You'd be amazed how useful they becomeNever used that type of bit before.

They are kind of similar looking to a spot weld cutter. What I hate when drilling cast is how easy it cuts if there’s any bit walkingIt actually was ezpz with that drill bit. Thanks Bruce.JB Weld High Heat will fix that up.
Between the broken screws and the hole, here's where I throw in the towel on that cook box. I can pick up another Silver B any day of the week for less than $50.Bad news.
I was cleaning the burner screw post and found a hole in the firebox.

Yes Steve,Between the broken screws and the hole, here's where I throw in the towel on that cook box. I can pick up another Silver B any day of the week for less than $50.
I do not see many Silver B's come up for free in my area but they do come between 30 and 50 bones.
I am with Cody. Why not give it a good shot? If it fails, you at least gained some good experience. It may not be a bad box to try it on tbh. If you make it worse all you are out is a little time. If this is the kind of thing you haven't done, a little practice never hurts.
