I needed to replace the cross over on my 12 year old Silver B, 12 years on the original is not bad. since I took it apart I decided to finally after 4 years replace the igniter as well. I went to pay at home depot and asked for my 10% Disabled Vets discount, they said Weber doesn't allow discounts.
Personally I think that is good, because I have seen the Toy Train business destroyed by the big box stores, they get big discounts and can under sell the mom and pop stores and the small stores are now gone. You want train or hobby stuff you go to the net.

Oh and having taken the B apart and put it back together I think a total rebuild will be in order, doesn't look bad to do, although my B is in pretty decent shape still.

This has been mentioned numerous times on Weber's Facebook page. Here are a few of Weber's replies.

Weber Grills HI Royal,
We are very sorry to hear that you were not able to receive a discount for being a Vet. All Weber retailers are free to sell Weber products at whatever price they choose. Any in-store discounts or sales that would be advertised by a retailer are not controlled in any way by Weber. Weber’s MAP program only relates to advertised prices, which is very different from in-store discounts, sales or programs. If retailers and their employees are not clear on the difference between sale price and advertised price, they may respond that “Weber won't let them give discounts” which is not correct.
Despite the trouble that you had we really hope that you enjoy your new grill!

Weber Grills Hi Keith! Thank you for being a loyal Weber fan. We are truly sorry about the confusion. Weber does not set retailer policies, those are offered at the discretion of Home Depot's management. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call us at 1-800-446-1071. Thank you!

Then there's this chain of events...

[h=5]I bought my Weber grill from Home Depot today. Really disappointed to learn that Weber doesn't support the troops. Home Depot offers 10% discount on all purchases .... Except Weber grills. Still bought one, but man that was a surprise.[/h]
Hi Evan!
Thank you for being a loyal Weber fan. Congrats on your new grill--we are excited to have you as part of the Weber grilling family. We are truly sorry about the confusion. Weber does not set retailer policies, those are offered at the discretion of Home Depot's management. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call us at 1-800-446-1071. Thank you!

John Doe - I asked for the Home Depot store manager and was told by him that Weber would issue a $10,000 fine for violating Weber Pricing policies. Sounded fishy then and I'm even more convinced of being fed a line after reading Weber's response to Evan. Think I'll print this post out and have another talk with my Home Depot manager.

Thanks Chad,
That is another reason now that I only go to HD because it is less than a mile from my house and Lowes is 10. HD, at least the one in Norwood stopped giving discounts to Vets, only active duty and Disabled Vets, I am hearing disabled (they wouldn't let us use or we didn't use hearing protection on firing squad) so I still get the discount.

I was looking at Craigs List and saw several Silvers, both were 50 and 85 and were newer than my Silver B, they were around 2007. I am tempted but I think I will rebuild the one I have.

I have a 15 year old Silver B and will never part with it. In the past 15 years it has benn refurbished once with cast iron grill plates and new SS flavorizer bars from rcplanebuyer on Ebay everything else is original. Mine has the 13 flavorizer bars and with that 0 flairups and very even heat distrubution. I just bought a E 320 NG off of CL a few days ago and I'm learning to use that one because I'm tired of lugging bottles around, but the Silver B will stay and come out of retirement now and then for old time sakes.

Mine has the 5 flavorizor bars, the main thing I want to check out is the metal bar that holds the valves for the gas, where it attaches to the body of the grill it is getting rusty, not the grill but the bar.
