Sides for a pig roast

What sides do people like to make to go with a pig roast? I usually make baked beans but I am looking for something different. I have made a hawaiian dish with chicken and long rice before. Just looking for some ideas.

Not a fan of baked beans with barbecue anyway, but I do like beans. I've done black beans for pig roasts, with yuca con mojo, fried ripe plantains, pineapple salsa, and shrimp and malanga fritters as the starter.

Others: Roasted sweet potatoes mashed with roasted plantains, spicy sautéed kale, mojo for the pork

Fried rice with peas and baby corn, grilled baby bok choy (or sautéed shredded Napa with red bell pepper julienne, soy syrup drizzle

Savory herbed waffles (for under the pork), cabbage/carrot/jícama slaw with lime, smoky cherry sauce

Garlic brown rice with sesame, sautéed green beans with toasted shallot, roasted peach sauce, lavender honey

Thanks for the ideas Kevin. I was thinking about it and I could just go in a different direction with the beans. I made your frijoles borrachos a few weeks ago and they were great. I will need a big pot though as I'm cooking for 50!

Frijoles borrachos are great for a pig roast. I sometimes do yuca, often rice. I'm quite fond of fried ripe plantains with this, and often make a cooling mango, pineapple or mango-pineapple salsa for the plate, keeping the fruit large-ish to be chunky, mincing the aromatics.

You can cook the beans in batches. The big deal is to cool them quickly for storage. Ditto for the rice.
