I'd really like to throw in a pork butt tonight to eat tomorrow. I work about three blocks from my house, and I can get away periodically to check the WSM. Is this a bad idea?

Chris O.....

Sounds like it would be no different than an overnighter. You sound close enough that if you get a little nervous you can run home.

I would be sure to stabilize the temp for about 2 hours prior to leaving.

I cook while golfing....which for me is a days work!

Tom, that's a great idea. I don't know how much work I'd get done, though.

Our neighborhood is full of stupid kids, even stupider dogs and no back yard fences, and while none of them have yet knocked over a cooking smoker, I wouldn't put it past them, so I've never cooked while not being both present and at least semi-conscious. This is also probably why I stay up all night during competitions...BBQ paranoia. However, if you're in a decent neighborhood or have a fenced yard, I'd say go for it.
