Should I buy a 2009 or 2010 Performer?

I'm just contemplating buying a Performer with gas assist, but they're horribly expensive over here - About $650 for the 2010 model, or I can get a 2009 model for about $550.

There are only a few difference between the 2009 and 2010, but is there anything which would make the 2010 worth the extra money?

I specifically searched, found and bought a 2009 Blue Performer because I preferred the look of it over the 2010 model. It cooks like a dream and very happy with my choice.
Personally, I would have gladly payed more money for the 2009 than the 2010.
 
Thanks for the input - Unfortunately, the Performer is only available in black over here, but I think I'll go for the '09 since it's cheaper and I prefer the side-facing thermometer.

I prefer the side facing thermometer too. It sucks having to stand right over the kettle in order to see what your dome temperature is...especially in the rain. Wow...$650 for a performer??? No wonder they give you guys exotic colors to choose from. The ought to give you SOMETHING for that kind of price. I find it hard to believe that shipping a Weber overseas warrants a $350 price increase.

I'm really happy that it has a 2010 style darker side table, as this was one thing which I preferred about the 2010 model.

I put it together as soon as I got home, and found that the wire rack that goes at the bottom was missing. The charcoal holder attaches to the rack, so I can't fit that either. Has anybody else had this missing? I'll just give Weber a call in the morning and they can send me one.

I've used it already, and it does cook like a dream - Just like an OTG

It was luxury having a table, and the gass assist was really good. I used it to light a chimney, but I'll experiment with other methods later on.

Congrats on the new Performer! I have had mine since April and LOVE IT!! When I picked mine up at HD I didn't even think to check the model, and when I got home I noticed it was the 09 model. I was a little ticked at first, but it's all good now, I think I like the 09 a little better.
 
Congrats - good move! Only thing I liked about the new model when I saw one was that the bottom rack looks like it might be stainless steel?
 
Guess I never thought of the advantage of having a side facing thermometer. When I set up my performer for indirect long cooks, I always have it face my lazy boy in my living room, that way I can just lean up a little to look out the french door window and see the temperature on the gauge. With one mounted in the dome, I wouldn't be able to do that.

That's exactly why I prefer the side-facing thermometer, except I sit on the sofa.

It was missing the wire rack when I bought it, but one just arrived from Weber. They sent a 2010-style rack, so I have the best of the 2009 and 2010 models - An '09 Performer with a dark side table and a 2010-style wire rack.

Yeah...I'm officially screwed. I ordered a new lid for mine last year because the weld between the original lid and the handle rusted out. The new lid says "DE" on it, indicating it would be a 2009 grill, but it's not the case. I don't suppose I'll be able to figure it out any other way. :-(

My Performer has got a sticker on the back showing the serial number. The first two characters of the serial are the same as those stamped on the vent, so perhaps you could check the year that way if your's still has the sticker.

The sticker's on the back panel - directly opposite the gas controls. My sticker's made of plastic, and looks quite durable.
