Shipping a Genesis S-320

So I decided on a S-320. Now my question is whether it is worth it to get it a little cheaper through Amazon or buy it local. My concern is shipping damage as well as putting it together. I'm capable of putting it together, but it will probably take a few hours. Home Depot has them already assembled. Which is the more important thing. I know if it's not damaged at the store, I can get it home unscathed. I'm not so sure that shipping a heavy grill like the Genesis is a good idea. What is the likelihood it will arrive here in one piece?

some product is damaged in transit, somtimes pieces are missing (no idea how well Weber USA does with this aspect) ... it isn't uncommon to have to deal with one issue or the other ... assuming HD puts it together correctly ya, I think it's a good way to go

up to you really if you think you are saving enough to put up with shipping delays (get it now from HD) and risking hassle and more delays if it arrives damaged or missing parts

I have to think it isn't a huge problem otherwise it wouldn't make business sense to sell this way so they wouldn't.

Watch it come mangled now just cuz I said that.

I ended up getting it at HD. It actually worked out pretty well. I got it unassembled (in a box), which actually worked out pretty good. I was able to get the box onto my deck with the help of a hand cart and some leverage. Had a bought an assembled one, I would not have been able to get it on my deck by myself.

The assemble wasn't too bad. The instructions leave a little to be desired, but it was no big deal. Being an admittedly slow worker, it took me a couple hours to put it together. Trust me, I wasn't hurrying.

The packaging was pretty good, but I felt better knowing I was looking at an undamaged box before I made the purchase.

I pretty happy with the grill and the process. Appreciate the help from members of this board too.

That doesn't always make a difference. We special ordered a Summit in last fall. When it arrived, the box was in perfect shape. When pulling the box off, there was a DEEP dent on the left side front between the first and second knob, deep enough I had to also get replacement burners. It had to happen pre-packaging and it was still sent out, no way you could have missed the damage.

i'd say buy locally unless its a lot cheaper online. i got a great deal on mine from ace. putting it together wasnt very hard but i wish mine had been ready to go. i use mine a lot more than i thought i would
