Rotisserie

What is the benefit for this cooking this way?

I know rotisserie chickens taste good but so to butterfly chickens.

The reason I ask is I was thinking about a rib roast for x mas and try it rotisserie style.

I'm no expert Woody, but I think you get more even heat (no hot spots), and a "self basting" thing going on.
