Rotisserie Question

The Weber and CB spit rods are 5/16" which is the most common size. For a roti basket, decide rather you want stainless, non-stick, etc. I have a One Grill stainless basket. They also have tumble baskets and their own product called the Performer. I originally wanted a Fire Magic stainless basket because it is larger and may be better made than the One Grill model. It is made for the Fire Magic 5/8" spit and some reported difficulty getting it secure on a 5/16" rod. Lately, I have read more favorable reviews. I don't know how common this is with roti baskets but on the One Grill basket the metal tabs that hold the thumb screws could be a little stronger and the thumb screws a little longer and more heavy duty. This is just looking for something to complain about because it meets my needs with no problem.

In a previous roti discussion it was mentioned to avoid the 4 prong forks because the 2 extra prongs can make it difficult to secure a chicken.

I seriously considered the Ribolator for months before and after getting the Weber Performer. The decision was made as I progressed with roti cooking. Other than a certain fun factor of watching food go round and round on a carousel I don't see what the Ribolator can do that a spit, a few forks, baskets and the grill or smoker grate can't do. I see it being fun for the first few months, until the new wears off. Then, it would become something to assemble/disassemble and store. It may be selective memory but I do not recall many posts from long time Ribolator owners. The posts I recall use it when cooking for large groups rather than family meals. I can't remember all of the details but there is a problem if the weight of the food is not distributed evenly among the trays.

I like the idea of the One Grill Performer basket for convenience. It is basically just a big basket that allows larger food, such as roasts, to be cooked on the roti without the spit hole in the meat. It may also hold a chicken without the need to truss it. I can see it being used long term.

Several people here have the EZ Que. Owners seem to really like them. Hopefully, they will share their experience and opinions. There is previous info to be found with a forum search.

Elaine is correct concerning the One Grill Performer Basket. Somewhat pricey, however, built to last and made of SS. The Performer basket holds Tri tips, Chickens, Prime rib roast, and just about anything you want to roti. It's the best basket I've found and I use it often.
